Questions about dynamic tariffs

Who are dynamic electricity tariffs recommended for?

Dynamic electricity tariffs are particularly suited to households with large devices, such as heat pumps, solar panels, air conditioning systems, heated swimming pools or electric cars.

Are there any particular requirements for a dynamic electricity tariff?

Yes, for a dynamic electricity tariff, you'll need an intelligent measuring system – a so-called smart meter.

Where and when will I see my usage data with a dynamic electricity tariff?

The grid operator automatically submits your usage data (load profile) to us via your smart meter.

What are the environmental implications of a dynamic electricity tariff?

On a dynamic electricity tariff, you're promoting an efficient use of renewable energy in the grid. This is because electricity is usually cheapest when there's lots of wind and solar energy available.

Do I have the option to switch back from the tariff if I don't like it?

If you're not completely satisfied with the Hourly Tariff, you have the option to cancel each month. This means there's no risk involved.

Questions about price

On a dynamic electricity tariff, how do I retain an overview of my monthly energy costs as the price fluctuates?

You can get a transparent overview of your consumption by using smart home devices like a smart meter, which automatically transmits your consumption to us.

Is there a price cap when using a dynamic electricity tariff?

No, there's no price cap, which means that your electricity costs might be high at times when the market price is high.

Questions about smart meters

What is a smart meter?

A smart meter is an intelligent electricity meter that measures your usage in real time and automatically transmits it to us. This means you'll see exactly how much electricity you've used each hour and we can bill you by the hour.

Compared to conventional electricity meters that are only read once a year, with this you'll get a better overview of your energy consumption.

What should I do if I don't have a smart meter yet? Can I take out a dynamic electricity tariff anyway?

You can request a smart meter from your grid operator. Until the smart meter is installed, we'll put you on our Monthly Tariff, which offers monthly price adjustments. Learn more about smart meters here.
