Munich, 15.05.2024 – tado°, leading European provider of home climate and energy management solutions, today unveils its new Heat Pump Optimizer X that makes heat pumps smarter and more efficient and sits at the heart of an industry-leading home energy management solution for millions of households.
Heat Pump Optimizer X – part of the new tado° X range of smart heating products – brings a simplicity to intelligently manage heat pumps, making smart heating more accessible for millions more households across Europe to cut both their energy bills and impact on the climate.
It controls the scheduling and temperature of air-to-water, ground-to-water and water-to-water heat pumps. In addition, it can automatically shift a heat pump’s energy consumption for heating and hot water to times of the day when electricity prices are cheapest when used in conjunction with tado°’s Balance for Heat Pumps subscription service and dynamic electricity tariffs.
When Heat Pump Optimizer X is used to its full potential with these home energy management solutions it can unlock savings of up to €430 a year for customers switching from a flat to a dynamic tariff[1], while also reducing a home’s environmental impact by using more energy from renewable sources.

How tado° Heat Pump Optimizer X works
Heat Pump Optimizer X has been engineered to seamlessly complement any existing heating system, with no need to remove a heat pump’s thermostat or controller, or new heat pumps. Heat Pump Optimizer X is a standalone device that can be wired to a heat pump to allow customers to easily adjust the schedule and the desired temperature using the tado° app for both heating and hot water, even when they are not home.
Heat Pump Optimizer X is also a Thread border router and so does not need another bridge to connect via WiFi to the Internet, and can create its own Thread mesh network to connect to other tado° X products and compatible smart home devices.
It is compatible with the principal manufacturers in the European market: Atlantic, Vaillant, Saunier Duval and Fujitsu. Daikin, Panasonic, NIBE and other brands will follow.
Taking Heat Pump Optimizer X to a new level
Energy bills can be driven even lower with tado°’s Balance for Heat Pumps subscription service, which makes use of hourly dynamic electricity tariffs by accessing price data for the next 24 hours and shifting the heat pump’s consumption to the cheapest times of the day, including when there is more energy from green sources available. In addition, Balance allows for efficiency optimization based on the outdoor temperature.
tado° customers unlock even more of Heat Pump Optimizer X’s savings potential with automated Geofencing to turn down the heating when no-one is home, Energy IQ for individual energy consumption and costs as well as monthly usage comparisons, and Care & Protect to monitor for potential heating system malfunctions.

Heat Pump Optimizer X is the only product on the market that opens up control of heating in individual rooms or zones by heat pumps when paired with tado° X’s Smart Radiator Thermostats, Smart Thermostats and Wireless Temperature Sensor. It works for both radiator and underfloor heating systems and increases heating efficiency by using the optimal amount of heat to make all rooms achieve their desired setpoints.

Availability and pricing
Heat Pump Optimizer X has an RRP of €249.99 and, along with the other tado° X products, launches in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Sweden and Denmark today (May 15). Heat Pump Optimizer X includes a free three-month subscription for the Balance for Heat Pumps service.
