Care & Protect keeps home heating systems running smoothly and offers customers tangible solutions when issues arise.
Sep 2, 2020 - tado° today announces its first-of-a-kind Care & Protect feature to provide 24/7 monitoring of home heating systems to keep them in good health, saving residents time and money. Care & Protect detects boiler faults, informs users on how to fix them or who to call, and helps to minimise the outage time of heating systems to guarantee a warm and comfortable home.
On average, a home heating system breaks down every 2 - 3 years . Ordering a professional repair is usually time consuming, expensive, and frustrating. Having analysed millions of heating system outages of tado° customers, in 60% of cases these can be fixed by the users themselves on the same day.
Do it yourself
tado° Care & Protect monitors the heating system around the clock and keeps the user up-to-date with important information about the system’s performance and health. The smart tado° thermostats are connected to the customer’s heating system and know how it normally behaves. If tado° detects an unusual pattern, users get a notification on their smartphone. When starting the self-fix guidance the user is asked for more details about the heating setup to determine the current issue more precisely and to offer the best solution.
In a few simple steps, tado° Care & Protect guides the user through the self-fix process, for example, if the boiler needs a restart or if radiators should be bled to let air out. If users feel uncomfortable working on the heating system or encounter any problems during the self-fix process, they always have the option to book a trusted professional or get help from a suggested engineer via the tado° Boiler Repair Service.
Preventing boiler breakdowns
tado°’s real-time data monitoring and intelligent algorithms even prevent problems before they actually occur. Many boilers break down unnoticed by their owners who will then be in for an unpleasant surprise. The new tado° Care & Protect Skill helps to avoid heating system outages. tado°’s unique deep boiler integration establishes a digital two-way connection between the boiler and the tado° Smart Thermostat to analyse metrics such as water pressure, pump speed, and error codes. For example, when tado° measures low water pressures, which will eventually cause the heating system to shut down, it will notify the customer a few weeks before such an automatic shut down and advise to refill water. But even if a boiler does not support a digital connection, tado°’s smart algorithms will identify potential heating system breakdowns based on room temperature data.
“With Care & Protect we want to offer our customers an ‘all-round carefree package’ for their heating system. It ensures that the heating is running flawlessly and can prevent damage before it even occurs so that our customers can lean back and relax.” says Christian Deilmann, Co-founder & CPO of tado°.
Price & availability
The new Care & Protect will be added as a third Skill to the tado° Auto-Assist starting in October this year. The Auto-Assist feature currently includes Geofencing and Open Window Detection. It takes care of the user's home climate by fully automating the Geofencing and Open Window Detection Skills for even more savings and comfort. Auto-Assist is bookable in the tado° app with a monthly subscription of £2.99 per month or £24.99 a year and can be cancelled at any time. The new Care & Protect Skill will be available via an app update for all tado° customers using Auto-Assist.
