Berlin, 04.09.2024: tado°, the leading provider of home energy management solutions, and the Heating & Ventilation A/C Company of Panasonic Corporation are today unveiling their first integrated offering.

The companies are combining state-of-the-art Panasonic AQUAREA heat pumps with market-leading tado° X smart heating products for room control and energy management services into one integrated solution.

Available from November, it is managed in one tailored user-friendly app to deliver maximum heating efficiency and energy savings to homes with a Panasonic heat pump, without sacrificing comfort. Panasonic and tado° announced their partnership in March 2024 and today’s announcement marks the first step towards accelerating both companies’ mission to decarbonize homes and help customers to save on energy costs.

Joint offer for optimized heat pump efficiency and maximum comfort

tado° has tuned its Heat Pump Optimizer X with the energy management service Balance to work seamlessly with the AQUAREA air-to-water heat pumps. The solution helps users to optimize their heat pump settings to increase efficiency and automatically shifts its electricity demand to times when renewable energy is available and prices are lower.

Connected to tado° X smart thermostats in each room, the energy management software can modulate the heat pump’s temperature according to the heat demand from each room or zone, so that the heat pump only produces the actually required heat while at the same time allowing each room in a home to always have the perfect temperature. Balance determines the most cost efficient time to automatically heat the home or hot water tank. It has several ways of doing this, depending on the individual home’s heating and energy set-up.

For households with dynamic and variable tariffs such as the tado° HOURLY tariff in Germany and Austria, it identifies the least expensive times of the day for electricity charges and automatically turns on the heat pump in those periods.
Homes with their own PV system benefit from Balance’s ability to read the local weather forecast to predict the times when the solar panels will generate energy for free, and then operate the heat pump during those hours.
Balance also uses the weather forecast to identify the warmest part of the day to heat the hot water tank when the air-to-water heat pump is working more efficiently and using less electricity. This innovative use of outdoor temperatures allows even those households on a flat-rate electricity tariff to benefit from the efficiencies Balance and tado° offer.

Once set up and activated, the joint offering is a worry-free integrated solution with future-proofed technology. The tado° App provides easy access to AQUAREA product information, heat pump settings and heating and savings information while smart algorithms take care of the rest. The solution delivers unprecedented levels of heat pump efficiency and cost-savings in sync with nature by shifting electricity demand to times when there is more renewable energy available.

Availability

tado° and Panasonic aim to launch the innovative AQUAREA air-to-water heat pump and tado° room control bundles, including the smart energy management software, in November 2024 in selected European markets. The bundles will be available through Panasonic’s sales channels. More details on the availability of the joint offering will be communicated at Chillventa in Nuremberg on October 8.
